Yin Yoga

The Yoga classes at Breakthrough Healing Arts aspires to bring a deeper experience of healing through gentle movements, slower pacing, longer holds, and restorative postures. This brings you to a perfect space of renewal, strengthening, and openness - allowing you to recover more fully from your more rigorous physical activities.

Gentle Hatha Yoga

This class focuses on moving deeper into fundamental postures of yoga through proper alignment, breath work and slow conscious movement, bringing awareness to the whole self. It is especially beneficial for those recovering from injuries, or those who want to have a deeper experience of healing and strengthening while nurturing the body.

Tuesdays, 7:00 am - Jordan Tyler
Thursdays, 7:00 am - Jordan Tyler
Fridays, 7:00am - Meryl Hamilton

Hatha Yoga

This class aims to strengthen the body by holding postures that promote balance, increase bone mass, and focused breathing. Postures are held for longer periods, helping the practitioner get to a surrendered meditative state, promoting openness.

Mondays, 8:30am - Megan White
Wednesdays, 8:30am - Meryl Hamilton
Fridays, 8:30am - Meryl Hamilton

Yin Yoga

This class focuses on healing and moving the attention inward. A mix of gentle hatha, yin, and restorative yoga, the practice includes pranayama (breathing exercises) for balance, renewal, and deep healing. Deep breathing, introspection and self-love are the key points of this meditative and nourishing practice.

Saturdays, 8:00am - Irene Radley

Restorative Yoga

This class utilizes the Yoga of kindness to the self. In each session, the practitioner is nurtured into postures, using special props that allow the body to relax more freely and open up to each posture slowly. The principle of the form is that our natural state is the state of balance, strength, and flexibility. By allowing each posture to take shape, our natural state is restored.

Mondays and Wednesdays , 5:30pm - Megan White

Rehabilitative Yoga

In each session, for two months, poses designed to work specific muscle groups are done in order to help rehabilitate the areas of the body that may have been injured, to strengthen atrophied muscles, and increase blood flow to promote better healing through advanced breathwork techniques.

January/February - Large joints: hips, low back and shoulders
March/April - Small joints: wrists, ankles, and neck
May/June - Chest openers: ribcage, midback and diaphragm
July/August - Balance
September/October - Arm strength
November/December - Leg strength

Tuesdays, 5:30pm - Irene Radley

Healing Flow Yoga

Healing Flow is combines the warming technique of flow yoga (one breath, one movement) with the deep stretch of hatha for a more balanced practice. This class embodies our principle of dispersion/tonification: we facilitate tension release through gentle movements, then strengthen through held postures. This class is appropriate for all levels, beginners are especially welcome. Variations can be given for those who want a deeper and more advanced practice. Be prepared to leave feeling warm and flexible.

Thursdays, 5:30pm - Meryl Hamilton

IRENE RADLEY started her journey with Yoga in 2000, while on working in theatre in Naples, Italy with her friend and Yogi, Aaron Berk. She then began taking workshops and classes in Ashtanga Yoga, and did a self-guided immersion while living in Garopaba, Brazil, where she practiced for 3 hours continuously, every day, for three months. While her theatre career and succeeding Qigong trainings have taken hold of her life since then, she is honored to come back to her first spiritual practice, and to have the opportunity to share the space with other practitioners.

JORDAN TYLER received her 200 hour Yoga teacher training and certification from Elka Haekel. She is also a vegan baker, a musician, and an event producer. Her focus for teaching Yoga is to guide people to find their highest selves and help them love the versions of who they are right now enough to get there.

MEGAN WHITE was enormously influenced by the lifestyle of Yoga while living in South Africa. Drawn to self healing through Ayurveda, Pranayama, and asana, she was inspired to continue her studies.
Megan completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training at Wise Living Yoga Academy, affiliated to The Yoga Institute of Santacruz, Mumbai, India. She is very grateful to her teachers Jeenal Mehta and Daniel Fonseca, for their inspiring teachings based on Classical Yoga, Bhagavad Gita & Shir Yogendra's methods for practice of Hatha Yoga. Her classes are taught with wholeheartedness, compassion and a curiosity for learning through teaching. Megan loves the connection and community that yoga creates, and wishes to cultivate that not only on the mat, but off as well.

MERYL HAMILTON began practicing Yoga regularly in 2007 in New York City after many years of rigorous gymnastics and dance. She has been teaching since 2011. She completed her 200 hour teacher training at Sadhana Center, with further studies in Restorative Yoga and Yoga for Pain Management of Back/Neck care. Her goal is to share with students the transformative powers of yoga, and inspire them to tap into their own inner teacher.

"However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse."

~Henry David Thoreau, Walden
