Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remember to turn on the light’’, a popular saying mentioned by Dumbledore in the famous movie Harry Potter.
This is true. You only get the happiness you deserve when you choose to find it.
What Dumbedore means is (by my understanding) that if you want to find something you have to choose to pursue it and hunt it down, it won’t come by accident.

When I first heard this quote, I really did not see its importance or understand it.
This was only because I was depressed, hopeless, and had already gotten used to everything, including myself.
One day when I was scrolling through the internet when I clicked across this article that spoke about finding inner peace and learning how to be happier within yourself instead of looking for happiness externally.
Over the past few months, I have been practicing happiness, and I can proudly say it has helped me a lot.
What do I mean by practicing happiness?
I have come to realise that happiness is not a natural state any more than sadness or jealously or pride or shame or any other state or emotion is a natural state.
Instead we can make a conscious choice to feel any emotion we want and through practice and repetition over time we will experience happiness more often.
Although it was hard at first, I am glad I tried it because it is one thing that keeps me calm and happy.
And of course, life will throw things at you that you didn’t expect and that will test you but remember you can choose how you react to these external factors rather than letting the external factors dictate your mood and emotions to you.
For sure, happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, only if you remember to turn on the light.
