I always choose happiness over anything that comes my way, but happiness is not my default or natural mode sadly so I’ve had to set myself rules for happiness.
What I mean by that is; I remind myself constantly of 4 happiness rules that I must follow in order to push me from my default negative state into a happier state of mind.
In the modern world distraction is part of the daily routine, with so many people living fake “highlight reel” lives on social media that only shares the good and never the bad.
When I was a younger women, fresh from college and with no job at hand, it wasn’t easy to cope up with the pressure.
At times I felt like an outcast (and sometimes still do), because when I look around my fellow gender are all “living their best lives”…if you believe their social media feeds anyway.
Because I was unhappy at that time and didn’t feel like I was living a life as good as everyone else this always took my happiness and self-esteem away if I let it.
But I decided I can’t be happy or sad based on what other people are doing (or pretending to be doing), or even what they think or say about me.
So I set myself some rules around being happy that I try not to break.
This article focuses on the essential rules to experience happiness in life, elaborating what you should do or follow to have that inner peace we all desire…
Essential rules for happiness in life
Stop comparing yourself to others.
Genuine happiness comes from doing what you love with the people you love and letting your true awesomeness shine through.
It is the process of becoming the best version of oneself. Every person has a unique destiny.
You have your own set of gifts, talents, and opportunities which are different from mine.
Love should be abundant in your life.
You have 24 hours in a day. Filling as many of those hours with love, whether it’s job, passions, or even pets, is one of the ingredients for happiness for me.
Love without fear. Every day, I make every effort to do what I enjoy for as many hours as possible.
Find your purpose.
When it comes to finding your purpose, there is no age limits.
Yes, the society will have its judgmental on you but it should not be a destruction from determining your purpose in life.
Everything begins to make sense once you discover your genuine mission in life. You no longer live for the weekends.
There are no boundaries when it comes to life and career.
Learn to forgive.
As I grow older, I realize that inner serenity is one of life’s most valuable commodities.
Forgiveness is the nectar of the soul for me. Please pardon yourself. Allow others to forgive you.
It takes a lot of courage to forgive.
If you are weak, you will be incapable of forgiving.
Ironically, you can never be really joyful if you harbor unpleasant feelings against people in your heart.
