I firmly believe that you first need to work on yourself to be a blessing to other people. Work on your thoughts, your words, your deeds, as well as your actions. I love to see a smile on someone’s face.
There is a common saying that says, “happiness starts with you.”
If you carry this along with you, you will realize that you will become a blessing to many people.
In this article, I will try and answer the question, what does it mean when someone tells you that you are a blessing?
I will define what I think a blessing is and tell you some of the things you can do to be a blessing to other people.
What is a blessing?
“Blessing” or “bless you” is not just a word. Actually, blessings open up new and better ways for us in life.
If you help someone, they bless you.
Also, your parents or the elderly bless you because they love you.
This means that the process of being blessed makes us do good deeds which make us better human beings.
Blessings provide us strength in our bad times, which is the reason for our healing from the pain.
What does it mean to be a blessing?
Being a blessing to someone may come in many ways.
When someone tells you that you are a blessing;
• it means that you help others feel happy with your actions.
• It means that your existence makes others happy.
• And that you know how to help others selflessly.
To be a blessing to others, you don’t need to be a millionaire or a martyr; just give a little of your time to do a good deed for someone who might need it.
It is an act of giving a helping hand and uplifting others physically, mentally, and fiscally.
So if you are a blessing to others, you do good to those around you, have good thoughts for them, and your conduct towards them is right.
To be a blessing to others also means to listen to them, being there for them, and being their friend in need.
When you are a blessing to others, you will hear the words “Thank you so much” very often!
Work on yourself first!
The easiest way to be a blessing to other people is to start by being at peace with yourself. Inner peace is within every person.
An article drawn from Oprah daily says that “this calm, compassionate, deep awareness is actually within each person.
It’s as if we have a deep reservoir of peacefulness and serenity inside us. What we have to do is learn how to tap into it.” (Source).
Meditate, take time to think about things, you can do some yoga, anything that helps you connect to your inner self.
These are some of the things that have helped me throughout my journey; believe me, they work!
Bottom line, when someone tells you that you are a blessing in their life, I believe it is one of the best things someone can say to you.
You need to understand that you need to love unconditionally as well as be mindful of other people.
You also need to be able to connect to your spiritual self.
